What is infertility?

Infertility is the failure to become pregnant within 1.5 years after marriage despite frequent and unprotected sexual intercourse. Today, 15-20% of couples have infertility problems.
Approximately 40% of them have female infertility and 40% have male infertility. All parameters of the remaining 20 percent of the group are normal. In this group of couples, it is not possible to determine the cause according to current technology. This condition is called unexplained infertility.

Causes of female infertility

•    Tubal obstruction, hydrosalpinx (inflammation and blockage of the tubes)
•    Egg formation disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome
•    Uterine and cervical disorders, congenital septum presence in the uterus
•    Hormonal or metabolic disorders, thyroid dysfunction
•    Endometriosis and chocolate cysts
•    Problems with the peritoneal cavity, adhesions related to previous operations
•    The woman is older
•    Vaginismus

Causes of male infertility

•    In 30-40% of infertile couples, the causes are male-related. 10-15 percent of their problems are related to women. Spermogram is the basic and guiding study in determining the cause of infertility.
•    Problems with sperm count or motility
•    Sperm shape abnormalities
•    Lack of sperm (azoospermia)
•    Clogging or absence of sperm ducts
•    Erection and ejaculation problems (retrograde ejaculation)
•    Hormonal reasons
•    Genetic causes
•    Varicocele
